TRAVELLERS TIPS AND MUST KNOWS
You need an international licence to drive and ride in greece
You can now fly to most islands in Greece, you don't have to catch the long and expensive 4-8 hour ferries that are quite uncomfortable for the cheapest tickets of 50-60euros one way.
Best to hire your own form of transport while on the island, its tiny and the buses aren't as frequent and take a lot longer. its good to have your independence and plan out your days. You can hire scooter, atv four wheeler and mini cars.
Milos is a quite island, no clubs
Also Milos does not have any Hostels, but some of the accomodation you will find on air bnb and bookings.com will have hostel prices for much better value accomodation.

SLEEP
Even though Milos is a very small island, there are still a few options on where to base yourself on the island. Even though the distances aren't very far, it won't make a difference if your planning on hiring a car, scooter or ATV, but if you aren't planning on hiring transport and wanting to use pubic transport instead then you'll want to consider staying in Adamas where the main port, bus hub and tour companies are to get you around. Below ive described the vibe of the areas and locations with a map of the beaches and areas to help you decide with a few popular recommendations to give you a taste of the types of access and their prices.
I recommend airbnb.com and booking.com to browse and find your accom.
ADAMANTAS
Milos main port ferries arrive and depart. Bars, shops, restaurants all along here. Tour booking & rentals are all made along here & main hub for public transport. Good for strolling home from drinking and eating without having to drive home.
Skinopi Lodge - Villas on a hill facing the horizon recommended by CN traveller, it is.a 10 min drive from Adanatas, nestled ibetween Klima and Adamantas.
PLAKA
Milos capital of the island and situated 220m above sea level. 5kms from Adamantas. Has tiny paths and tiled alleys with a church and castle up the top, narrow back streets, whitewashed courtyards and Cycladic-style balconies festooned with flowers are some of the characteristics of this village. Also filled with restaurants and bars, and a very convient spot close to 5kms to Adamanas and 3kms to Klima.
POLLONIA
Is a fishing village and Milos's second port (which takes you to Polygaios). It is situated on the northern part of the Island, 10kms-12kms from Adamanas and Plaka. Pollonia has lots of choices for accomodation, lots of restaurants and bars but the village is much smaller then Plaka.
The Captain Zeppos - luxury accomodation costing you an arm and a leg but amazing, over looking the ocean with private pools, villa suites, $2000 a night
Milos Breeze Boutique - another luxury, is a 4 star hotel, maybe the biggest hotel/resort on the island $2000 a night
Salt Suites - continuously being recommended by bloggers and travel websites.
Melian Boutique Hotel/ Milos Hotel - another boutique hotel with break taking views, dining area, jacuzzi and pool over looking the ocean.
KLIMA
Waterfront, known for the cute beach huts/houses along the front of the water and also famous for its sunsets. Has some small restaurants, seafood, working fisherman village locals living in the colourful houses
Salty kisses boat house - this traditional air bnb beach shack is a1 bedroom apartment on stilts with water washing up on the rocks below you. Ocean views and an amazing sunset spot. Only $100AUD a night for 3 people. We found this as a bargain.
TRYPITI
Small town 10min walk up the hill to Plaka , peace and quite very small village. Handful of places to eat
MANDRAKIA
A very small fishing village with limited accommodation options but this area has a popular photo spot to visit and swim with the fisherman colourful boat garages.
I recommend airbnb.com and booking.com to browse and find your accom.

- Armenaki in Pollonia. Don’t miss the aubergine bruschetta and the local rosemary potatoes.
- Arc of Flavours, Pollonia. A stunning breakfast spot and deli which homemade local products. Try their pasta, sweet treats and beauty products, all enjoyed in a shady garden covered in colourful flowers.
- Gialos in Pollonia. A beachside restaurant which gets booked up in the evenings; reserve a spot to indulge in some seriously fresh dishes.
- Fatses in Plaka. After watching sunset on the hilltop, stroll down and tuck into the most delicious stuffed aubergine. Don’t miss the homemade lemonade.
- Barriello in Tripiti. Sit outside on the balcony for the best sunset view, and enjoy homegrown ingredients. The owner Takis is always happy to share his personal recommendations.
- Medousa Taverna, Mandrakia. A small seaside taverna in a fishing town, make sure you try their traditional fava.
- Taverna Sirocco, Paliochori beach. This beachside tavern cooks your food in the heat of the sand, a unique experience.
- Alevromylos. Of course, as mentioned above, this traditional Cycladian restaurant isn’t to be missed. Do a cooking class there if you can!
Barriello - a few people have raved about this, get the grilled octopus, eggplant and humus. After dinner watch the sunset in Plaka from the church.
Kilma - Has some small restaurants, seafood, working fisherman village locals living in the colourful hoses.

O Chamos – this place is unique! Please, don’t miss it!
Palaios pastry shop in Plaka:Greek deserts. Baklava, kadaifi, galaktobouriko,
Below from @ourtravelpassport
Archontoula: While you're in Plaka, be sure to get dinner at Archontoula. It's a higher-end restaurant, but it's worth it because the food is high-quality. Ask for their famous appetizer balls. I can't even tell you what was in them, but they were so good that I wish I had the recipe to make them on my own. There were lots of herbs and some sort of watermelon sauce. It sounds random, but it was so good. Guess we'll just have to go back to Milos. Oh well, haha.
Hanabi Seaside Sushi: Pollonia is a quaint town on the water front and has a couple different restaurants on the water, making it a great place to go for a nightly stroll and choose where you want to eat. Hanabi Seaside Sushi is a new restaurant opened by a famous sushi chef from Athens.
Spiros Gelato: No European vacation is complete without a delicious gelato spot where you can get your nightly (or daily) gelato fix. Spiros is in Plaka and the gelato is amazing! And all of the flavors are delicious. The owner, whose name is Spiros, is also so nice and really helpful and funny

- Medusa – this was easily our favorite meal on the island. It’s located adjacent to Mandrakia beach, and serves up fresh fish right on the water. Be prepared for a short wait (it’s popular for a reason!), and don’t miss the octopus.
- Jordan’s Meating Place – for melt-in-your-mouth chicken souvlaki (chicken skewers)! This restaurant is basic, but they don’t mess around.
- Astakas Klima – for an evening out, this waterfront restaurant is the perfect place to watch the sunset. You’ll want to come early to explore the quaint town of Klima, a little fishing village. Reservations recommended.
- Ergina – recommended to us by a local, this Greek restaurant serves up amazing homemade pasta and lots of other Greek specialties. Perfect for a date night – make reservations.
- Hanabi Sushi – this sushi spot is on the pricier side, but we loved their rolls and location in downtown Pollonia. Perfect for a lazy afternoon lunch or a nice dinner.
- Avli-Milos – authentic Greek food in the heart of downtown Plaka. You can’t go wrong at this restaurant, with tables all along the side streets!
- Fatses – in terms of Greek food, this spot doesn’t quite hit the mark for the tastiest (or most traditional). However, in terms of atmosphere it can’t be beat. The patio takes over a main square in downtown Plaka, with string lights in the trees, candles, and live music. My tip: go early for a drink and appetizer, then make your way into town for round 2.
- Palaios Pastry – a MUST for dessert! Everything is homemade and the entire shop smells delicious. Don’t miss the orange cake with olive oil, it melts in your mouth
